Herb has been with the orchestra as Concertmaster since 2004. Herb was a social worker (recently retired) with Bergen County, working in three adult workshops for clients with developmental disabilities.  He had lived in Ridgewood for 17 years (1991-2008)  and moved to Mahwah last year with his wife Ellen and daughter Sarah.  He studied the violin with Jascha Fastofsky, a student of Leopold Auer.  Herb’s favorite hobbies are reading Patrick O'Brian, playing string quartets, and watching DVDs of world class violinists.
