Herb joined the RSO Board in 2008. He has served as the Youth Audience Development Committee chairman and currently is Chairman of the Public Relations Committee. Herb has been with the orchestra as Concertmaster since 2004. Herb was a social worker (recently retired) with Bergen County, working in three adult workshops for clients with developmental disabilities.  He had lived in Ridgewood for 17 years (1991-2008)  and moved to Mahwah last year with his wife Ellen and daughter Sarah.  He studied the violin with Jascha Fastofsky, a student of Leopold Auer.  Herb’s favorite hobbies are reading Patrick O'Brian, playing string quartets, and watching DVDs of world class violinists.
