YOUNG PEOPLE’S CONCERTS:
The Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra (RSO) very much enjoys and looks forward to playing for elementary students and their families at our special Young People’s Concerts. These concerts are often the places where many children and students in our area first hear a live symphony orchestra. As you may know the Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra is one of northern New Jersey’s prime cultural institutions. We are a non-profit, non-sectarian organization, and for 70 years RSO concerts have been events where children and their families can hear, and learn about, classical music. This year we will be offering two Young People’s Concerts on the following dates:
Tuesday, November 17, 2009 and Tuesday May 4, 2010, both at 7:00pm at Benjamin Franklin MS, Ridgewood, NJ.
Admission is free of charge. Adults will be asked to make a voluntary contribution.
Each Youth Concert lasts no more than 35 minutes. At the conclusion, the young people and their parents are invited up on stage to look more closely at the instruments and to talk with the musicians. Not surprisingly, we are frequently told that these concerts have inspired a child to study music, and have helped many parents assist their children in making a decision about which instrument to play as they enter the school music programs.
Everyone is welcome and we hope you tell family and friends about this unique opportunity to share these special evenings with your children. Scout groups and other organizations are all welcome.
